Legendary Rides – Stelvio & the Vinschgau Flow

The Stelvio Pass, with its 48 hairpin bends and 2,757 m elevation, is a cyclist’s holy grail. From Sulden, it’s a demanding but iconic climb – and the view from the top is worth every turn.

? For a gentler experience, the Vinschgau Valley offers well-marked bike paths, apple orchards and riverside trails – perfect for families, leisure riders or e-bikers.

Biking in Sulden means experiencing the raw, emotional power of the Alps – at your own pace, in your own rhythm.

Sulden - Madritsch

The starting point of this tour is the valley station of the cable car in Sulden (1,900 m). Take the road up to the Schaubach Hut (2,581 m). From there, a forest path continues to the Madritsch Hut (2,820 m). This demanding tour is rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Ortler group.

Difference in altitude: 800 m

Sulden - Stierlückl

The starting point is the Hotel Marlet in Sulden. The tour begins with a fairly steep ascent via forest path no. 19 and no. 18, which leads you to the Kälberalm (2248 m). After a short rest, the route continues almost level to the Stierlückl (2230 m). The descent follows the same path.
Experienced mountain bikers can descend from the Stierlückl via the Stieralm to the Vellnaier Alm (2004 m) and then via trail no. 6 to Prad.

Furkelhütte

The starting point of this tour is Trafoi. From there you take the Stilfserjochstraße downhill to Gomagoi and then on to Stilfs in the direction of the sports ground. The gravel path begins at Fraggeshof and leads you past game reserves to the Prader Alm. From there, always follow the signs to the Furkelhütte, where you can take a break and enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Ortler group. Downhill, you first take the ski slope to the middle station and from there take trail no. 17 to Trafoi.

Difference in altitude: 620 m

Stelvio alp

The starting point is the Stilfser Sportplatz, where there is also parking. From there, head uphill on the asphalt road in the direction of “Stilfser Alm, Valatsches”. At the first bend to the left, the gravel road begins (follow the signs) and leads you directly to the Stilfser Alm, where you can stop for a break and refresh yourself.
The way back follows the same route.

Difference in altitude: 700 m

Prader Mountain

The tour starts at the junction of the Silfser Joch Straße cycle path in Prad and takes you past the village square to the “Nittwiesen” and on to the Platzgernunhof farm at 1200 m. On trails and forest paths it goes up to 1307 m. Downhill for a beautiful trail descent past the St. Johann church back to the village centre of Prad am Stilfserjoch.

Difference in altitude: 410 m

Montoni

The tour starts in Prad am Stilfserjoch and continues along the cycle path to Lichtenberg. Past the castle ruins, an asphalt path leads off to the left to the farms above Lichtenberg. The trail continues steeply uphill on the forest path “Montoni, Lichtenberger Alm”. Follow the path with the signs “Höfweg Nr. 12” further on to a barrier.
Descend first on a gravel road, past the Schartalp, then continue on an asphalt road between some farms until you reach the entrance to Stilfs. From there, take the access road to Gomagoi and continue on the Stilfserjoch road back to Prad.
